HISTORIC MOMENT FOR CVD DIAMONDS ACROSS THE WORLD: A PAGE IN HISTORY

2019 is sure to be a promising year for lab-grown diamonds , within the first 6 months of the year, major developments have shaken the industry and established the strength of lab-grown diamonds. Increasing demand of these diamonds has led to acceptance amongst industry leaders, knowledge houses and even gatekeepers. Last year, De Beers – the industry giant launched its own brand named ‘Lightbox’ that retails lab-grown diamond jewelry. Consumers have increasingly been demanding lab-grown diamonds owing to the more ethical & environmental-friendly practices along with the affordability aspect. Such trends have led even organizations such as GIA and FTC to accept lab-grown diamonds at par with mined diamonds. A diamond is a diamond no matter whether it is grown in a lab or comes out of the ground. This fact is now backed by the most eminent diamond grading institute in the world, the GIA and the FTC, America’s leading consumer protection agency. The Gemological Institute of America a...

Government Initiatives to Strengthen Lab-Grown Diamond Trade in India - Limelight Diamonds

July 2019, India:  Recently India introduced an import classification code solely for lab-grown rough diamonds, which would enable the industry to better identify lab-grown diamonds and keep track of the goods as opposed to the olden days where all categories were being marked as synthetic. Perhaps, the move also stems from the actions of GIA (Gemological Institute of India) and FTC (Federal Trade Commission) earlier this year, where both banned the word ‘synthetic’ for usage against lab-grown diamonds. Both of these institutes now classify lab-grown diamonds as real diamonds as they have the same optical, physical, thermal and chemical properties.      The government has separated the Indian Trade Clarification (ITC) code for rough synthetic gemstones into diamonds and non-diamonds, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported last week. The move will help organizations such as the GJEPC track the precise quantities of lab-grown...

Everything You Need to Know About CVD Diamonds : A Simple, Factual Guide - Limelight Diamonds

Your Complete Guide to Understanding CVD Diamonds .   Q: Are CVD diamonds synthetic? A: No, CVD diamonds are neither synthetic nor artificial. They are as real as natural diamonds and are grown in a laboratory instead of being mined from under the surface of the earth.   Q: Is CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) the same as CZ (Cubic Zirconia) A: Absolutely not, the two are completely different. CVD diamonds are 100% real diamonds meaning they are entirely made up of carbon. Cubic Zirconia does not contain any carbon and are significantly weaker in hardness as compared to CVD diamonds that are real diamonds.   Q: What is the difference between natural diamonds & CVD diamonds? There is no optical, thermal, physical or chemical difference between natural & CVD diamonds . They both are made up of carbon, however CVD diamonds have an edge over most natural diamonds as CVD diamonds are 100% carbon, the purest type of diamonds – type IIa diamonds. ...
